this script checks key words in a log file . you can return red, yellow or red alert if it finds red or yellow or red key words... The REAL advantage is that it doesn't restart to check from the begenning of the log but only from a stored offset !!!

bb-ncp.sh.1
Monitors various NetWare attributes via ncpfs: abend, bkp (ARCserve), conlog, disk (all readable volumes), slist, ups (pwrchute), users. Alternative to loading a BB client on Novell servers. Supports (requires?) IPX.
New: bugfixes, updates for NetWare 6 and ARCserve 9, more concise bkp/abend output, more coloring, improved error-checking.
Note: "msgs" has been renamed back to "conlog". A future version will parse SYS$LOG.ERR for msgs.
This file might be named bb-ncpfs.sh.1 rather than its proper name of bb-ncpfs.sh - rename it!

Test existence, size, age and number of files. User definable colors for files that are missing, should not exist or are too small/large/old/new/many/few or that have their size/age/number in a forbidden finite interval. Supports remote testing using ftp or sftp or Smbclient (Samba). Support for Unix , VM (experimental), AS400 and Dos/Windows ftp servers. Supports spaces in filenames. Tests can be enabled/disabled based on time/day. Optional automatic timeout of alarms. Current date in any format and on any timezone can now be used as a part of the file selection pattern. Local file selection by owner/group/mode/type/fstype/... using find. Versions 1.0 - 2.9.2 NEW: -i parameter added to ftp to turn off any interactive prompting.
